🏗 Increase Training Pool (Capacity)
What is Training Pool?
Your training pool determines how many troops you can queue per batch. A larger pool means more troops trained per cycle, which translates to more points on Friday (Total Mobilization) and a bigger army overall. Increasing capacity is one of the most impactful long-term investments you can make.
| Tree | Node | Max Lv | Total Gold | Total Food | Total Iron | Total Valor | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Development | Barrack Expansion I | 5 | 76,900 | 25,600 | 25,600 | 0 | * |
| Development | Barrack Expansion II | 5 | 3,711,400 | 1,237,200 | 1,237,200 | 0 | * |

Other Sources of Training Capacity
- Barracks building level — higher level = larger training queue per barracks
- Survivor assignments — assign survivors to barracks for +capacity bonus
- Secretary of Defense — +20% Training Limit while holding the position
- VIP 6 — +5% troop training capacity
⚡ Increase Training Speed
Why Training Speed Matters
Training speed reduces the timer on each training batch. Faster training means fewer speedups are needed to complete batches, saving your precious speedups for Friday scoring. Every percentage point of training speed compounds across every batch you train.
| Tree | Node | Max Lv | Total Gold | Total Food | Total Iron | Total Valor | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Development | Focused Training I | 5 | 305,300 | 101,800 | 101,800 | 0 | * |
| Development | Focused Training II | 5 | 7,569,650 | 2,523,250 | 2,523,250 | 0 | * |
| Development | Focused Training III | 5 | 53,497,950 | 17,722,650 | 17,722,650 | 0 | * |
| Development | Focused Training IV | 5 | 103,215,000 | 34,295,000 | 34,295,000 | 0 | * |

| Siege to Seize | Focused Training I | 10 | 796,264,600 | 265,421,300 | 265,421,300 | 9,200 | * |
Other Sources of Training Speed
- Secretary of Defense — +20% training speed (5 min window; must start training WHILE holding the position)
- VP buff — +10% training speed (permanent for VP holder)
- VIP 15 — +10% training speed
🏋 More March Capacity (Drill Grounds)
Why March Capacity Matters
Drill Grounds determine how many troops you can deploy per march. A bigger march = a bigger army on the battlefield. This directly affects your combat power in rallies, PvP, and alliance wars. More troops in each march means more damage dealt and more staying power.
| Tree | Node | Max Lv | Total Gold | Total Food | Total Iron | Total Valor | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Development | Drill Ground Expansion | 5 | 55,610,000 | 18,500,000 | 18,500,000 | 0 | * |
| Siege to Seize | Extra Drill Ground | 1 | 61,251,100 | 20,417,000 | 20,417,000 | 700 | * |
| Siege to Seize | Drill Ground Expansion | 10 | 1,167,600,000 | 389,199,900 | 389,199,900 | 13,400 | * |
💰 Reducing Training Costs
⚠ Important: No Direct Cost Reduction Research
There is NO research node that directly reduces the resource cost of training troops. Troop costs are fixed per tier. However, there are indirect ways to make training more affordable:
Indirect Ways to Afford More Training
- Lower tier troops cost less — T5 costs a fraction of T8. This is exactly why the waterfall method works: train cheap T5, then upgrade through tiers for maximum VS event points at minimum cost.
- Resource production buffs — Secretary of Interior gives +20% production while holding the position. Stack with VIP production bonuses.
- Gathering from the world map — Gold tiles give the most value. Gather in alliance territory for +25% bonus. This is the primary way to fund large training batches.
- Event rewards & chests — Most resources come from events, alliance gifts, and resource chests, not from production buildings.
🎯 Priority Research Path
Recommended Research Order
- Focused Training I–IV Development — Total: ~165M Gold. The biggest training speed gains in the cheapest tree. Every level directly reduces your training timer.
- Barrack Expansion I–IV Development — Total: ~62M Gold. Bigger queues per batch means more troops per cycle and more VS points on Friday.
- Extra Barracks Development — 1.2M Gold. Unlocks a 3rd barracks building slot. Cheap and high value.
- Drill Ground Expansion Development — 55.6M Gold. More troops per march = stronger in every battle.
- SF Focused Training + Barracks Expansion Special Forces — 136M Gold + 3,920 Valor. Endgame training nodes. Only after Development tree is complete.
- Siege to Seize nodes Siege to Seize — 2.8B Gold + 32K Valor. Whale territory. Massive costs for incremental gains. Only for late-game players with maxed Development and Special Forces.
⚙ Speed Formula
Official Training Speed Calculation
Actual Time = Base Time ÷ (1 + Total Speed Bonus%)
Example: 60 min base time with +50% speed = 60 ÷ 1.5 = 40 min (saves 20 min of speedups)
Source: Official Last War Twitter quiz
💡 Why This Formula Matters
All speed bonuses are additive with each other but applied divisively to the base time. This means stacking multiple small bonuses (VIP + Secretary + Research) creates a significant compound effect. A +100% total bonus cuts your training time in half. A +200% bonus cuts it to one-third.

🕑 About Research Times
Research time data is not available from community data sources (cpt-hedge.com). The Time column shows * for all nodes. To see actual research times, check your in-game Tech Center. Times vary based on your Tech Center level, research speed buffs, VIP level, and alliance help. Use the speed formula above to estimate your actual completion times.
